Trading Plan Adherence Calculator
Calculate plan adherence and review coverage without treating unknown trades as compliant. A separate, optional section measures one precise rule only when you need it. No signup, no data upload.

1. Overall plan
2. Optional rule check
Overall plan adherence is enough for the main calculation. Open this only when you also want to measure one precise instruction.
Results
Plan adherence
81.8%
36 followed / 44 graded
Review coverage
88.0%
44 graded / 50 total
Unknown plan trades: 6. This group is not counted as compliant.
What to inspect
The denominator is visible
44 of 50 trades have a followed-or-violated grade. Keep the count beside the percentage.
Audit profitable violations
2 violations made money. Keep them classified as violations so P&L does not grade compliance.
The average hides severity
1 violations breached a hard risk or account boundary. Review them individually regardless of the overall rate.
Formula 01
Plan adherence
Followed plan / (followed plan + violated plan) x 100. Profitable violations remain violations.
Formula 02
Review coverage
Graded trades / total trades x 100. This exposes how much of the sample can actually support a behavioral conclusion.
Formula 03
Specific rule adherence
Respected / (respected + violated) x 100. Not-applicable decisions stay outside this denominator. This optional calculation is for one observable instruction, not the whole trading plan again.
How to interpret the result
Read the percentages as a diagnostic, not a grade. Start with one account and a fixed date range, confirm review coverage, then open the violations behind the average. A severe risk breach can matter even when overall adherence is high.
- 1. Check coverage. Missing reviews can make a selectively graded sample look cleaner than the full period.
- 2. Check applicability. A rule that rarely applies needs counts and more time, not a confident conclusion from a large-looking percentage.
- 3. Inspect severity. Review profitable rule breaks and hard account-boundary violations individually.

Common questions
What is trading plan adherence?
Trading plan adherence is the share of graded trades that followed the plan: followed divided by followed plus violated. Unknown reviews stay outside the denominator and remain visible through review coverage.
Should not-applicable trades count as respected?
No. A rule-level rate should use only trades where that rule applied. Not-applicable trades are reported separately so they cannot inflate adherence.
What does one specific rule mean?
It is one observable instruction inside the wider plan, such as waiting 20 minutes after a losing trade. Measure it separately only when the trigger, required action and three states are clearly defined.
What is a good plan adherence percentage?
There is no universal passing percentage. Compare a stable definition with your own baseline, read coverage and sample count beside it, and inspect severe violations individually.
Move from a sample to an ongoing record
TDLab attaches plan and rule states to your trade history, keeps review coverage visible and shows how adherence changes over time.
